Anticipation buzzed through the room as Language Arts teacher Trisha Stevens guided her freshmen through a project focused on Shakespeare.
“We went into groups, and we chose a topic to work on,” freshman Amara Nadwornik said.
Stevens came up with a plan for the freshmen’s own Shakespearean Festival.
“We had our own little stations and had other classes come in,” Nadwornik said.“We would go around and explain what our
topic was about, and they would listen.”
Freshman Autumn Hoyt explained the content her team presented.
“Grace Lehman and I made a dress for ours, and it took us a really long time. We made a poster of what they wore, so we did the fashion for Renaissance,” Hoyt said.
Nadwornik and her group did some food prepping for her presentation on Renaissance parties, including a poster with facts from different data bases, sample foods and sparkling wine.
“Basically what they would have there,” Nadwornik said. “We also brought masks because they would have a lot of masquerade balls.”
Freshman Isaiah William was part of another group that did the music of Shakespeare.
“There is this sailor song that related to Shakespeare,” Williams said, “and the song dealt with two people who were from different parts of the sea, and they didn’t like each other. It was a really sad song, and we sang it. I was the song director.”
