At the conclusion of the Coldwater Invitational, the team was undefeated. After a win against two other teams, the team went up against the host Coldwater for the championship. In the sixth inning, the game was tied 8-8 with junior Jarett White pitching.
“It was a pretty even game. It got intense,” White said. “We were all exhausted and had made some errors earlier in the game.”
Despite their exhaustion and the chilly temperature, the boys pulled through with a 10-8 win.
Later in the season, they continued to win and finished the Best of the Best tournament with a win where they beat St. Joe, the number one team in the state.
“That tournament was a great day of baseball,” senior Nicholas Miller said. “We took on St. Claire after the win against St. Joe with a lot of momentum.”
The momentum pushed them all the way to the victory against St. Claire, winning the tournament and ranking them fourth in the state.
“We’ve worked really hard,” White said, “and we will do our best to show how hard we have been working. Our practice before the district game was definitely our best practice.”
As they entered districts, they are pushed for even more according to White.
“I believe we are ready, and we will surprise a lot of people,” White said.
