The Magic Chef is what junior Kevin Jung calls himself.
“It was actually my e-mail because those are my two favorite things. When I signed up for Glitter, I didn’t have a name for myself, and I had to put my e-mail down. They just took that and made it into my performer name,” Jung said.
Magic isn’t easy, and it takes a lot of practice.
“I did a little magic during 7th grade, but then I decided to start up again freshman year,” Jung said.
And he has been doing it ever since.
“Glitter was actually a lot of fun. It always goes better during the rehearsal because I usually mess up during the real thing,” Jung said. “I messed up during my card trick but luckily only a few people noticed, and the only reason that they did was because of the look on my face.”
Jung performed three different magic tricks, but his last required audience participation. He hid a ball of paper towel in his hand and then asked sophomore Mackenzie Schick which hand the paper towel was in as he threw it behind her head, so she couldn’t see it.
“I did the final trick with Odell and Erika during rehearsal, and it worked on both of them,” Jung said. “Usually the first two times, the people don’t see it and then third time they do. So the fact that Mackenzie fell for it all three times was a real bonus.”
