Before the game even begins, the crowd begins to roar. Their ‘Chieftain Pride’ rivals the opposing team, as they become a sea of one color, one team, one family. The students, coming together to support their team, blend in with each other to create a powerful force, one to be reckoned with. This is the student section, the part of the bleachers at every Chieftain game that turns heads and creates an impenetrable power. This is what the students live for, they love Fridays’ because they know the games are fun to go to.
“These are the games that I love to go to,” senior Sean Mitchell said. “I always enjoyed waking up because I know the games would entertain me.”
Every single Friday night the student section is full of students who are loud and love to cheer on our Chieftains. All of the excitement is stacked up into one big pile on the bleachers. It gets so loud sometimes that the other team doesn’t even know what play call to use. Win or lose, the Chieftains are proud by there team no matter what the outcome is.
“I wish football games would go on all the time,” senior Jacob Roussos said. “It creates a bunch of memories with the fans and the players.”
Basketball games are hosted inside, but the Chieftains are always loud. The stands are full from bottom row to top row with a bunch of Chieftain gear spread throughout the section.
“The atmosphere at the games are unbelievable,” junior Emily Ciraulo said. “The school comes together to show support for the team and that’s the best part about it.”
Every single sport that gets played, the student section gets filled to the top because Utica has the best fans and show the best support in the district.
