<\/p>\n

Peach flowers paired with a cerulean\u00a0sunset. Vibrant jalape\u00f1o peppers\u00a0on top of an abstract khaki background.\u00a0Sailboats cruise on top of a blue sea.\u00a0Globular shapes, colors and textures mix\u00a0together to form the composition that is\u00a0Randy Walbridge\u2019s fashion sense.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad that someone acknowledges I\u00a0actually have one,\u201d Walbridge said.<\/p>\n

He first began to collect Hawaiian shirts\u00a010 years ago when he traveled to Florida\u00a0on Spring Break. During his yearly visits, he\u00a0adds to his collection.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would always look for a reasonably\u00a0priced shirt, and I started buying a shirt\u00a0every year. All of a sudden I had a dozen\u00a0shirts, and now I have more than that,\u201d he\u00a0said<\/p>\n

Walbridge estimates the number of\u00a0shirts he owns to be approximately 50.\u00a0To add to his collection, Walbridge now\u00a0frequents thrift stores to see what they\u00a0have, becoming more thoughtful of his\u00a0attire.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t used to be so picky, but now, it\u00a0either has to be a nice brand or a unique\u00a0button or pattern,\u201d he said. \u201cI have so many\u00a0of them now, I have to be really selective.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gradually, Walbridge became more\u00a0interested in the globular patterns and\u00a0colors. Observing the colors, he evaluates\u00a0if he feels comfortable in the shirt.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery once in a while if I\u2019m wearing a\u00a0shirt, I check it out from the corner of my\u00a0eye,\u201d he said. \u201cI see if I feel at ease in the\u00a0patterns. Eventually, those I don\u2019t like or\u00a0wear get recycled to my brother when he\u00a0visits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Being the art teacher for the school, self\u00a0expression is emphasized in his classroom\u00a0through different mediums.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that to some extent I can get away\u00a0with it a little bit being the art teacher,\u201d he\u00a0said. \u201cI probably wouldn\u2019t have that same\u00a0flexibility in any other position.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
