Pankow Center<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">VT-01. Anchor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This category is for compiled airchecks of the work of an individual person. Entries should include at least two examples of the anchor\u2019s best work, but can include several selections from different journalistic broadcast productions. The compilation may include general news, sports or features topics appropriate for a traditional newscast-style program. Materials from a talk show style program are not appropriate for this category. Attire and professionalism are factors in this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Judging Criteria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>WRITING:<\/strong> Is the writing clear, concise and conversational? Does the reporter use active voice and present tense? Does the script complement the visuals?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>RATE OF SPEECH:<\/strong> Do you talk too fast\/slow?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>COMMUNICATION OF IDEAS:<\/strong> Do we understand what you\u2019re talking about?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>COMMUNICATION OF EMOTION<\/strong>: Do you use voice fluctuation? Do you have emotion in your voice? Are you monotone?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MIC WEAKNESS:<\/strong> Is your microphone too close or too far? Do we hear the sound of your paper script?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SINCERITY: <\/strong>Do you come across as being genuine?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NATURALNESS:<\/strong> Do we enjoy listening to you? Does it sound like you know what you\u2019re doing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CREDIBILITY:<\/strong> Does it sound like YOU know what you\u2019re talking about? Do you give credit to any sources that might be applicable?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE:<\/strong> Are you dressed appropriately? Tuxedos and prom dresses aren\u2019t necessary, but t-shirts and jeans aren\u2019t appropriate either.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>OVERALL IMPRESSION<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the video does not meet the specific time requirement (such as the 30\/60s rule for PSAs &amp; Commercials) (not including any black\/slates before or after the video itself).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the video does not meet the category description.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the video includes copyrighted music or graphics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>USE OF MUSIC OR OTHER CONTENT THAT IS NOT CREATED BY STUDENT STAFF MEMBERS:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If any music is included in an entry, indicate the title(s) of track(s) used and source of the music.
