DM-11. Multimedia Story Package<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A single online story package about a shared topic told using text and at least two of the following categories of other elements: photos, audio, video, information graphics or animations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Package captures the audience\u2019s attention<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Package elements work together to tell a single story<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Content covers appropriate, timely issues\/topics; topic is relevant to interests and\/or welfare of school or students<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Elements do not unnecessary repeat information; each adds important details and strong storytelling content<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Package elements display sound journalistic principles<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Writing is clear, concise and free of errors<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Avoids opinion unless properly attributed<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Effective use of facts\/quotes from primary and secondary sources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION QUALITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Audio is clear; volume is consistent<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Music (if used) is appropriate for the subject matter<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Video is steady\/not shaky<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Video exhibits best practices for B-roll: wide, medium, tight shots; limited use of pans\/zooms<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Video footage is framed well; follows composition standards; is in focus with good lighting<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Text in any graphic elements is a good size, color to read<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Photo is effectively cropped to emphasize center of interest and enhance content<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Photo is technically strong:\n

      • proper contrast<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • not too grainy or muddy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
