Several of the five contestants expressed that they came to the realization that they shouldn\u2019t expect perfection from themselves during the pageant. Second runner-up, Samantha Perras (12) said, \u201cI don\u2019t think it matters if you\u2019re Miss Beaverton or if you place at all. You can\u2019t win everything. I think it\u2019s just a big accomplishment for everybody. You learn many life skills all from one pageant.\u201d Although Perras described the pageant as a great experience, contestant Haylee Hannah (12) expressed feelings of nervousness about wanting to do well. \u201cI was really nervous to go on stage and perform,\u201d said Hannah. \u201cThe one thing I remember seeing was my family being there. I just stared at them the entire time. It calmed me down and I wasn\u2019t freaking out.\u201d First runner-up Elizabeth Smith (12) attempted to convey the message of imperfection by lip-syncing to the song \u201cNobody\u2019s Perfect\u201d by Hannah Montana. \u201cWhat made me decide to do this,\u201d Smith said, \u201cwas my 60 Seconds speech that I did before my talent. It was about being yourself and not trying to be anyone else, because no one is perfect and we shouldn\u2019t try to be.
