Multiple family volunteers spotlighted their heritage by\u00a0setting up booths and sharing details about their culture.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Leah Abel, a parent coordinator said, \u201cWe had 23 countries\u00a0represented from six different continents. African countries\u00a0included Nigeria and Botswana. Australia, which is both a\u00a0continent and a county, was represented. From Europe we had\u00a0Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Austria and Hungary. From the\u00a0Middle East and Asia we had Iran, Syria, Pakistan, India, South\u00a0Korea, Japan and China, and from North and South America we\u00a0had Jamaica, the Cherokee Nation, Belize, Mexico, Bolivia, Panama\u00a0and Argentina. Families shared information on these countries\u00a0through fun items, games, maps, and exhibits showing what their\u00a0country is all about!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fourth-grader Lizzie Nwagwu said, \u201cI thought Multicultural Night\u00a0was fun because you got to present to people and learn about other\u00a0people\u2019s cultures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As students visited a different part of the world through the \u00a0multiple demonstrations and displays\u00a0they received a stamp in his\/her pretend\u00a0\u201cpassport\u201d after visiting each country.<\/p>\n<p>Students were introduced to many interesting\u00a0facts. At the Nigerian display,\u00a08th grader Tony Nwagwu told students\u00a0that the President of Nigeria\u2019s name is\u00a0Goodluck Jonathan, and they have their\u00a0version of the famous Hollywood sign,\u00a0but theirs is Nollywood.<\/p>\n<p>At the Korean table students played\u00a0with Korean games, and enjoyed the\u00a0drumming by 4th-grader Jimin Lee. At\u00a0the China table sponsored by the Zhou \u00a0family, students tried Chinese hackysack.<\/p>\n<p>Eighth-grader Alex Dufour, showed\u00a0students how to play Japanese games at\u00a0the Japan exhibit. \u201cI liked how there was a\u00a0lot of different countries,\u201d Jimin said.<\/p>\n<p>Girls especially enjoyed getting designs\u00a0painted on their hands with Henna at the\u00a0Indian table sponsored by the Revankar,\u00a0Tewari and Kadakol families.\u00a0Multicultural Night was also a great\u00a0chance to try different foods from our\u00a0talented cooks from all kinds of different\u00a0cultures. Delicious Middle Eastern\u00a0treats were found at the tables of Syria,\u00a0Iran and Pakistan sponsored by the Hakim,\u00a0Ashtari, Tehrani, Moshin, and Anwar\u00a0families. We sampled salsa and Mexican\u00a0desserts courtesy of the Berumen, Osorio \u00a0and Mercado families.<\/p>\n<p>Second graders from Lone Pine sang\u00a0a medley of world themed songs, and\u00a0there were Mexican dancers from The\u00a0Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo who\u00a0danced dances that represented the five\u00a0states of Mexico. Eighth grader, Sumanjali\u00a0Reddy Kanmantha Reddy danced a\u00a0beautiful classical Indian dance.
